Adult Medicaid Enrollees with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: Access to Behavioral Health Services

As part of MACPAC’s ongoing work addressing behavioral health service use in Medicaid, the Commission is focusing on Medicaid enrollees with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who may face unique barriers to accessing behavioral health care in Medicaid. MACPAC conducted a literature review and federal policy scan to understand how adults ages 19-64 with I/DD in Medicaid receive and use behavioral health services and the barriers they face accessing these services. In this session, staff reviewed background information about adults with I/DD in Medicaid, presented findings from the literature review and federal policy scan, and detailed next steps for MACPAC’s analysis.
