Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) support a wide range of behavioral health services for children and adults. As part of its ongoing examination of behavioral health, MACPAC plans to update its analysis of utilization and spending on behavioral health in Medicaid and CHIP.
In this session, staff highlighted key aspects of Medicaid’s role in covering behavioral health services for beneficiaries in the Medicaid and CHIP program. The session also reviewed MACPAC’s prior work on utilization and spending on behavioral health before introducing new claims data analysis, including variables that will be examined.
