Medicaid’s Response to COVID-19

The session reviewed potential Commission comments on the September 2022 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) request for information (RFI), “Make Your Voice Heard: Promoting Efficiency and Equity within CMS Programs.”  The RFI seeks stakeholder comments in four areas across all CMS programs:

  • Accessing healthcare and related challenges: Personal perspectives and experiences.
  • Understanding provider experiences: Challenges for health care workers in meeting the needs of their patients.
  • Advancing health equity: Individual and community-level burdens, health-related social needs, and recommended strategies to address health inequities.
  • Impact of the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) waivers and flexibilities: The impact of waivers and flexibilities issued during the PHE.

The Commission anticipates commenting on the topics pertaining to health equity and the PHE, drawing upon its prior work.
