The majority of Medicaid beneficiaries receive their benefits through managed care. This presentation, summarizes a draft chapter for MACPAC’s March 2015 report. It compares the use of Medicaid managed care plans to premium assistance in exchange and employer-sponsored plans, describes premium assistance waivers being used to expand Medicaid in Arkansas and Iowa, and looks at issues that will require careful attention in such arrangements.
