At the October 2016 Commission meeting, Commissioners resumed their discussion of potential design elements for a package of recommendations on the future of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and coverage for low- to moderate-income children. The presentation frames discussion of a time-limited funding extension for CHIP funding to stabilize children’s coverage, and support for state-based approaches that would move toward a more seamless system of coverage. The recommendations package is expected to be finalized in December 2016.
